What is AliPay?
AliPay Is a Mobile Payment App, or Digital Wallet, Originating in China and Used Across the Asia Pacific
AliPay users save their debit or credit card details to the app, which lets them make payments via their mobile phone. Part of the Alibaba group, AliPay partners with a number of different financial institutions, mainly linked to Chinese credit and debit cards, but including Mastercard and Visa.
It’s a QR (quick response) code system, and users can make payments either by presenting a barcode on their smartphone to merchants to be scanned (and the money taken), or by scanning a merchant’s QR code to enable payment.
