Rapyd has been named to the Hurun UK Unicorns 2026 list, recognizing the company among 80 UK-based private businesses valued at US$1 billion or more.

Published by the Hurun Research Institute, the index covers companies founded in the 2000s that have not yet listed on a public exchange. Rapyd’s inclusion provides independent recognition of the company within the UK’s private technology and fintech ecosystem.

The UK Ranks Among the World’s Leading Unicorn Markets

Hurun reports that the 80 companies in its 2026 UK index have a combined value of £242.4 billion, an increase of 47% from the previous year.

The UK now ranks third globally by number of unicorns, following the United States and China. It is also the only European country among the five largest unicorn markets worldwide. The UK index forms part of the Hurun Global Unicorn Index 2026, which tracks 1,603 companies across 52 countries and 299 cities.

Rapyd’s inclusion places the company within a group of privately held businesses contributing to the UK’s position as a major international technology market.

Fintech Represents More Than Half of UK Unicorn Value

Fintech is the largest sector represented in the 2026 UK index. Hurun identifies 27 UK fintech unicorns with a combined value of £121.8 billion.

These companies account for 33% of the UK unicorns included in the report and 53% of their total value. Hurun’s fintech analysis also highlights companies including Revolut, Checkout.com, SumUp, Monzo and Starling Bank.

The strength of fintech within the index reflects the sector’s central role in the UK’s private technology economy. For Rapyd, the recognition offers an external reference point for its position as a global fintech and payments company.
